Error Code 5-423
You'll see error code 5-423 if the Sling TV app has experienced continuous buffering for 45 seconds.
You might see a spinning orange (buffering) wheel, or a completely black screen before seeing error 5-423 pop up.
Why am I seeing this error?
Buffering issues can occur for a number of reasons, however, this error typically happens when there is a drop in the bandwidth available to your device, or there are too many devices using your connection. Before troubleshooting, try disconnecting some devices from your network to see if that can help your connection speed.
This is the first time I've seen this error
Try restarting your router to clear out any excess data that could be slowing your connection. Most routers can be reset with the steps listed below, however, please consult your router's instructions if you have any additional questions:
- Unplug the router from its power supply
- Wait 15-20 seconds, then plug back in
- Allow the device 1-2 minutes to reboot itself
- Try connecting to Sling
I've seen this error repeatedly
If you've seen this error repeatedly and the provided steps aren't helping to resolve the issue, contact your ISP for additional assistance.
If you’re unable to resolve the error using the other steps listed above, please take note of the following information before contacting us:
When the error occurred (when selecting a show, in the middle of watching, etc.)
What type of program you were watching (live, on-demand, DVR recording)
What device you were using (browser, mobile app, streaming device)
