Using parental controls and minor profiles
Learn to set up restrictions for your family and require a passcode for certain ratings or actions - like making purchases. Each profile on your account can have its own parental control settings.
To get started
On your TV
From your Sling home, press left to open the menu, then select Settings.
Select Manage Content, then select Parental Controls.
You'll be prompted to create a passcode or enter your existing four digit code before you can make any changes.
On mobile
Press your profile icon, then select Content Controls.
Remember: Every profile on your account has its own parental control settings. Be sure to manage kids' profiles as needed.
Turn on parental controls
Once you’ve entered your passcode, press Select to turn Parental controls on and reveal the options.
Require a passcode
Select Manage Rating Restrictions then select any rating level you would like to require a passcode for. A lock will appear next to ratings that will require the passcode.
Select Purchase and Rental to toggle between Allow and Don’t Allow. The Don’t Allow setting will require a passcode for any purchases when parental controls are on.
Select Restrict News, Sports, and Mature Unrated Content to toggle between Allow and Don’t Allow. The Don’t Allow setting will require a passcode to watch any of this content when parental controls are on.
Change your passcode
From your Sling home, press left to open the menu, then select Settings.
Select Manage Content, then select Parental Controls.
Enter your existing four digit code, then select Change Passcode to set up a new one.
Minor profiles
By indicating that a profile is for someone under the age of 18 you can limit data collection and ensure that there are no targeted ads when watching from that profile.
To set up a minor profile:
Select your profile icon then select Add Profile.
Enter a name for the profile, then press down to highlight Is this profile for someone under the age of 18?
Press select to set this as a minor profile.
Keep in mind: Setting up a minor profile doesn’t restrict access to specific content. It only limits data collection and targeted advertisements. To control the type of content a viewer can access, you’ll still need to enable and customize Parental Controls in the settings of each profile on your account.
