How To Watch the PGA Championship: Schedule and Storylines

Golf’s second major of the season is here. This is how you can watch with Sling and what to look forward to as Aronimink Golf Club takes center stage.

The golfing universe will turn its eyes to eastern Pennsylvania as the season's second major – the PGA Championship – tees off on Thursday, May 14. The course, Aronimink Golf Club, previously hosted the PGA Championship way back in 1962 (won by the legendary Gary Player), as well as the 2018 BMW Championship, which Keegan Bradley won in a playoff.

As we’ve seen frequently in recent years, the PGA Championship promises a showdown between the World’s No. 1 golfer (and defending PGA Champion) Scottie Scheffler and back-to-back Masters’ champion Rory McIlroy. Despite the course’s recent restoration – which added an additional 100 bunkers and expanded the putting greens – the weather could create soft, damp conditions that will favor long hitters and could neutralize the course’s intended firmness.

Let’s take a look at the TV schedule and our favorite storylines to follow at the 2026 PGA Championship. Sling subscribers can enjoy the event starting on Thursday, May 14 at 12pm ET on ESPN (available with Sling Essentials, Sling Orange, and Orange + Blue, or 1, 3, or 7 Day Pass subscriptions) and will need an OTA or Paramount+ to enjoy prime time on Saturday and Sunday. The Course and Weather

Aronimink Golf Club was designed by the legendary golf course designer Donald Ross, who noted in 1948 that he “intended to make this my masterpiece, but not until today did I realize I built it better than I knew.” That was 20 years after the course was unveiled; now nearly 100 years on, it remains one of the signature courses from Ross, with the original 18 putting surfaces remaining unchanged. However, a 2016-17 restoration more than doubled the number of bunkers from 74 to 174, which are mostly small and clustered together.

As always, the weather is expected to play a major factor – if the forecast holds, the rain leading up to the PGA Championship should favor the bombers, who won’t have to worry as much about the ball rolling out of play. And if the greens are soft, we could see lower scoring than most majors as the world’s best players aim their approach shots directly at the pin. But the golfers who miss on their drives could face additional punishment in wet and “juicy” rough.

LIV or Die?

With the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) officially announcing it will end its financial backing of LIV Golf at the conclusion of the 2026 season, LIV golfers will face some uncomfortable questions from the media at the PGA Championship. While some of this comes with the territory, it’s still less than ideal, especially for LIV golfers like Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, who struggled mightily at The Masters. Since LIV entered the fold, major championships are the only visibility into the PGA form of the defectors, and with those golfers now holding zero leverage as they eye a potential return to the PGA, their performances will be even more closely scrutinized in the final three majors of the year.

Players to Watch and Betting Sleepers

Aside from big names like Rory and Scottie, there are a number of intriguing players to keep an eye on. That starts with Cameron Young, who erased a four-stroke deficit on the final day to win the Players Championship in March, and more recently had a wire-to-wire win at the Cadillac Championship. With his putting game reaching new heights, Young’s first major championship feels less like a matter of “if” but “when.”

Matt Fitzpatrick is another name to remember heading into the weekend. He fell just short of Young at the Players, and has three wins since then. That includes a first place finish at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside his kid brother Alex, who earned his PGA Tour card as a result. It was a heartwarming moment, and the peak of what’s been Fitzpatrick’s best season to date.

If you’re looking for some sleepers to back, start with Russell Henley. A patient player who won’t beat himself, Henley proved he can handle the big moments with his T3 finish at The Masters. At +4900 odds, it’s worth throwing a few dollars behind Henley, but the best longshot might be Sepp Straka at +10500. He currently ranks 13th at Strokes Gained: Approach, and has a proven track record at courses in the Philadelphia area, including last year’s win at the Truist Championship at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, a course that shares a number of similarities to Aronimink.
