Five Talk Shows to Stay Informed on the Latest News

Several Egyptian news-focused TV talk shows were launched recently, competing to become viewers’ number one source of the latest news and events, including those heavily trending on social media. The hosts are challenged with attracting large audiences through effective and creative discussions of hot topics.

Here are the most famous shows currently being broadcasted:

Al Hekaya

This popular show is hosted by Amr Adib and broadcasted through the MBC channel. The show discusses an array of political, cultural, societal, and economic causes, while highlighting the most-talked-about topics.

Amr Adib is an Egyptian TV presenter who is well known for bringing trending topics to the table for discussion, and is considered one of the foremost TV presenters in Egypt and the Arab world. Beyond hosting “Al Hekaya,” he is the current executive director of the Nogoum FM radio channel and has previously held the post of executive director of the World Today magazine. Born into a distinguished media family, Amr is the son of the deceased scriptwriter Abd El Hay Adib and brother of both the famous media figure Emad El Din Adib and the director Adel Adib. He is also married to the esteemed TV host Lamis Al Hadidi.

Yahdoth Fi Masr

Launched in 2013, “Yahdoth Fi Masr” is hosted by the acclaimed Egyptian TV presenter, Sherif Amer. Leading a team of experts from various fields, Sherif ensures thorough research on topics before they reach his viewers. The show relies on a vast network of reporters stationed across Egyptian governorates, enabling swift coverage of local events. It airs from Saturday to Wednesday on the MBC Masr channel.

Sherif Amer started his career as a translator for different publications, like Rosa Al Yussuf and World Today (Al Alam Al Yom). He was among the pioneering TV presenters’ crew selected to launch the renowned TV channels “Nile TV” and “Nile News.”

In 2001, Sherif Amer was appointed the Programs Director of the MBC channel’ Cairo office. Later, he moved to the U.S. to work for the Al Hurra TV channel, coming back to Cairo after four years to present “Al Hayah Al Yom” on Al Hayah. Sherif finally moved to MBC channel in 2013 to start his current show, “Yahdoth Fi Masr.”

Al Gomaa fi Masr

“Al Gomaa Fi Masr” focuses on the societal, athletic, artistic and political events unfolding in Egypt. The show, hosted by Yasmine Saiid, revisits the week’s highlights every Friday, hosting prominent figures to discuss the latest events in each field. A survey is conducted each month, and results are announced during the show.

Sabahak Massri

This morning TV show presented by Hisham Assi discusses different facets of Egyptian life. It highlights societal challenges and actively addresses them.

Hadith Al Massaa

This show discusses daily and weekly social events that affect Egyptian life.

The show is hosted by Yasmine Ezz, who launched her career with “Ezz El Shabab,” which was broadcasted on the Rotana channel for three consecutive years. Later, she co-hosted “Sabahak Masri” with Hesham Assi at MBC Masr, as well as “Hadith Al Masaa” – and, most recently, “Kalam El Nass.”
