In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Norman Reedus described the new season as having a “Tatooine mixed with Don Quixote vibe.” While that might initially scan as more of a Madlib than a description, a look at the trailer above confirms the unlikely comparison. Picking up where the second season left off, season 3 begins with Daryl and Carol completing their journey through the Chunnel for a brief detour in England, where they encounter Julian (Stephen Merchant), “the last Englishman in England.” From there, the group sets out to sail to America to reunite with Laurent and Ash. But evidently, their ship goes off course and they wind up washing ashore in Spain.

This is where the larger story kicks off, as Daryl and Carol meet a new group of survivors in an entirely new setting. In fact, with the story arc of the previous two seasons in France now largely resolved, it appears that the third season of the show is something of a soft reboot. Let’s meet the new cast of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3.

Who is in the Cast of ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ Season 3?

AMC+ has already released a series of behind-the-scenes videos from the new season, and they provide a closer look at the new cast members joining the show in season 3. They include Eduardo Noriega as Antonio, an “emotionally wounded” character that Carol is drawn to, Óscar Jaenada as Fede, the town mayor who strictly enforces his cities’ rules and traditions, and Alexandra Masangkay as Paz, a kindred spirit to Daryl who is in the midst of what’s described as a tragic love story.

This season, producers wanted to explore themes of “love in the apocalypse,” which extends to other characters like Candela Saitta as Justina and Hugo Arbués as Roberto, star-crossed lovers in the vein of Romeo and Juliet. Greta Fernández, Gonzalo Bouza, Hada Nieto, Yassmine Othman, and Cuco Usín fill out the additional cast of season 3.

Yes! During the cast’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, producers announced that the show will return for a fourth and final season on AMC and AMC+. The fourth season will once again be set in Spain, with filming now underway “in and around Madrid in locations including Bilbao, Galicia, Andalucía, the Segovia region, Toledo and the community of Madrid.”
