Of all the relationships on the original The Walking Dead series, Daryl and Carol was many fans’ favorite. Although they were never a couple, their deep bond and complete support for each other had some critics labeling them “the best platonic couple on TV.” Given this, it made sense that a spin-off show with Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride reprising their characters was one of the first post-TWD series that AMC announced. However, McBride was unable to participate in the first season due to logistical reasons around the show’s European shoot.

Who is in the cast of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol?
As in the first season, Norman Reedus returns to play Daryl Dixon, while Melissa McBride reprises her character Carol Peltier (both characters appeared in the first season of The Walking Dead, making them the longest-tenured actors in the TWD franchise). Other actors returning from the first season include Clémence Poésy as Isabelle, a nun and guardian of Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), a kid who is seen by her order, the Pouvoir des Vivants, as the Messiah destined to restore humanity. Meanwhile, Marion Genet (Anne Charrier) has power over most of France, and her experiments in making juiced-up superzombies makes her (indirectly) responsible for bringing Daryl to France to begin with…
How Does Daryl Dixon End up in France?
In a flashback episode, we learn that following the events in The Walking Dead finale, Daryl was refueling his motorcycle when he encountered a French scientist paying bounties for walkers. We’ll YADA YADA the specifics, but Daryl is forced onto the boat with superzombies but escapes, and eventually washes up on the shores of France. By the end of the season, Daryl had grown attached to his French friends (and potential love interests), and decided to stick around for a while. That’s when we learn that Carol has been hunting for Daryl and, after crossing paths someone riding his motorcycle, gets a hot tip about his Euro trip.
How Many Episodes Are There in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol?
Like the first season, there will be six episodes in season two, with one episode premiering weekly.
Will There Be a Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon?
Yes. In fact, producers have announced that production for the third season is already underway in a new European country: Spain. According to AMC, “Eduardo Noriega (The Devil's Backbone, Vantage Point), Óscar Jaenada (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Hernán) and Alexandra Masangkay (The Platform, Valley of Shadows) will be joining the cast as series regulars, in addition to Candela Saitta (Máxima, Último primer día) and Hugo Arbués (Through My Window, Past Lies).
