He’s helped our planet win an intergalactic song competition, joined a hivemind, turned himself into a turkey, and stopped an errant lightsaber from reaching the earth’s core. Now, Rick and Morty fixture President Andre Curtis will really “show us what he’s got” when his new spin-off series President Curtis premieres Sunday, July 26 at 11:30 PM ET on Adult Swim, immediately following the finale of Rick and Morty season 9.

With legendary actor Keith David returning to voice Curtis and a brief cameo from Rick and Morty in the premiere episode, the new series won’t feel entirely novel to fans of Rick and Morty. But President Curtis – which was co-created by Rick and Morty Executive Producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano – is running its own campaign, blending the sci-fi surrealism and absurdity of its parent show with a new cast and characters. Meet the Cast of ‘President Curtis’
The challenge for all TV spin-offs is to take a recognizable hook that appeals to fans of the original series while establishing the new show's distinct tone and themes. In the case of President Curtis, the imaginative absurdism of Rick and Morty is still there, but the new series replaces the individualistic nihilism of Rick Sanchez with a focus on the institutional protectionism required by a head of state. Similarly, where Rick can simply portal away from any problem he creates, President Curtis has a constitutionally ordained mandate to address the chaos he encounters.
But the biggest difference between the series might be their setting. Where Rick and Morty focuses on the dynamics of the Smith family, President Curtis is a workplace comedy. As such, two of Curtis’ colleagues are central to the ensemble:
Banks (Chief of Staff)
- Voiced by: Stephanie Beatriz
- Character Details: Banks is human, but she is also a cyborg with a robot brain. She features data cables tucked directly into her ponytail, which she can use to plug in and become an instant tech wizard.
- Personality & Dynamic: Banks serves as the pragmatic "voice of reason" for the administration, weighing complicated options carefully and rapidly. Because President Curtis is incredibly arrogant, proud, and demands absolute respect (his character initially started as an analogue for President Obama, but now behaves much more like the current Oval Office occupant), Banks must be highly shrewd. She specializes in navigating Curtis's massive ego, solving catastrophic global crises in a clever way that subtly convinces the President that he actually came up with the solutions himself. Her technological nature also creates a fun thematic tension with the paranormal and supernatural occurrences they investigate.
Francis O'Doyle (Secret Service Special Agent)
- Voiced by: Jim Rash
- Character Details: O'Doyle is a fiercely protective, heavily tattooed Secret Service agent who happens to be half-leprechaun.
- Personality & Dynamic: Because of his leprechaun DNA, O'Doyle is physically incapable of telling a lie, which directly conflicts with the trickster impulses of his heritage. He is described as a well-meaning "dolt" who is blindly obedient to President Curtis. Rather than questioning any absurd orders, O'Doyle immediately leaps into action, regularly causing chaotic consequences that he isn't bright enough to anticipate. He also has a troubled background involving frequent imprisonments, is known to tell wild, Freudian stories about his "monstrous mother", and is voiced by Rash with a surprisingly dry and menacing tone.
The series also features Dan Bakkedahl and Kelsey Scott in key roles. At the time of the series launch, their specific character details have been kept under a "strategic mystery" protocol to fuel audience speculation and maintain the show's X-Files-inspired atmosphere of secrecy.
