What Are the French Open Draws?
The French Open bracket was set on Thursday, May 22. On the men’s side, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner earned the top seed in his first tournament following a three month suspension for doping. Last year’s Rolland-Garros winner Carlos Alcaraz is next at No. 2, setting up a potential rematch of last year’s final. In what could be his final season, Novak Djokovic will face American Mackenzie McDonald in the opening round. Djoker’s draw puts him on a potential collision course with No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals. American Taylor Fritz earned the No. 4 seed, while British star and 5-seed Jack Draper could face Sinner in the quarterfinals in his tune-up for Wimbledon.
On the women’s side, the competition is seen as more open (coming off a win at the clay courts in Rome, Alcaraz is currently a heavy favorite at +110 odds). Although Iga Świątek has won the past three tournaments at Rolland-Garros, she hasn’t reached a final in any tournament since, and has slipped to the No. 5 seed. Instead, Aryna Sabalenka is the top draw, followed by Coco Gauff at No. 2. Another American, Jessica Pegula, is No. 3, followed by Italian Jasmine Paolini at No. 4. Other favorites on the women’s side include No. 6 Mirra Andreeva (who currently has the fourth-best betting odds at +550), No. 8 Qinwen Zheng, and a third American contender, No. 7 Madison Keys.
