Arsenal vs. Manchester City: Preview and How to Watch With Sling
One of the biggest matches of the Premier League season comes early this year as Arsenal takes on Manchester City. Here's a preview and how to watch with Sling.
For the last two seasons, Manchester City has edged out Arsenal to win the Premier League. In the 2022/23 campaign, Arsenal were top of the table for the majority of the year before stumbling down the stretch to fall short to City by five points. Last year, Arsenal finished the season with 16 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw. Normally securing 49-out-of-54 points to end the season would be enough to win a Premier League crown, but when Pep Guardiola is on the opposing sideline, perfection is required. And that’s what his club did, going unbeaten in the final 19 matches of the Premier League season to win Manchester City’s sixth title in seven seasons.

Last season, Arsenal won the game in the Emirates 1-0 and drew away at City 0-0. Prior to that, Arsenal struggled mightily against Guardiola and City, losing 12 straight League matches.
Going into this game, both teams are likely to be without their most creative midfielders. Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard suffered an ankle sprain during the International Break and manager Mikel Arteta said he would be out for “some time.” For City, they will be without Kevin De Bruyne, who picked up a knock during the club's Champions League match on Wednesday.
It’ll be interesting to see who Arteta selects to replace Odegaard in the midfield, as he’s a key cog in the build up for the team. It’s not all bad for Arsenal though. Despite Joringho filling in admirably vs Tottenham, the Gunners will be getting midfielder Declan Rice back after his suspension from a red card. The team will likely rely on its strong defense and hope that players like Bukayo Saka or Kai Havertz can find a goal on the other end.
Manchester City will likely hold most of the possession in this game and the key for Arsenal will be shutting down striker Erling Haaland. The Norwegian already has NINE goals in four league matches (yes, you read that right). Phil Foden also looks to return from injury and is a big boost for Guardiola.
