Texans at Steelers Wild Card Preview

The final game of Wild Card weekend features two teams entering the playoffs in opposite directions. With a chance to clinch the AFC North crown in Week 17, Pittsburgh laid an egg against the Cleveland Browns, setting up a winner-take-all clash with the Ravens in the final game of the regular season. In a back-and-forth second half, the Steelers only escaped with a win thanks to a missed field goal as time expired. While Pittsburgh fans need not apologize for their team’s success, the Steelers didn’t exactly build momentum as they head into the Wild Card round.

The Texans, conversely, might be the hottest team in the NFL as the playoffs begin. Their last loss was all the way back on Nov. 2, and their nine-game winning streak includes victories against playoff teams in Jacksonville, Buffalo, and the Chargers. The Texans defense is arguably the best unit in the NFL this season, and quarterback C.J. Stroud has playoff wins in both of his first two seasons. Despite this, Houston is only a 3-point favorite against Pittsburgh, and at +1200 to win the Super Bowl, they have the seventh-longest odds of the 14 playoff teams. For a team that hasn’t lost a game since before Halloween, we see some value there.
