Not all of their games are winners, but it feels like at least once per season, we’re treated to a stone cold classic on Monday Night Football. This week’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns was just that, a shootout that featured an NFL-record nine rushing touchdowns and a wild fourth quarter of lead changes before Baltimore pulled out the 47-42 victory.
The win likely saved Baltimore’s season, but even in losing, it solidified Cleveland’s transformation into a legitimate playoff contender. With the two-headed monster of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, they have the one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL, and over the past two games, Baker Mayfield has been making good on the hype generated by his sensational rookie season. Add in defensive playmakers like Myles Garrett and the Browns appear to be one of the most well-rounded teams in the league. Perhaps more importantly, they look like one of the most entertaining to watch.
Speaking of entertaining teams, how about those Bills? In the minds of many experts, Buffalo’s convincing win over Pittsburgh established them as the second best team in the AFC after the Kansas City Chiefs. QB Josh Allen is completing a higher percentage of his passes than Patrick Mahomes, and Steffon Diggs looks like the acquisition of the year, as his NFL-leading 100 receptions have already tied a franchise record for the most catches in a season. This week, Buffalo heads to Denver for a Saturday afternoon game on NFL Network against the Broncos, who are coming off their most impressive win of the season, a 32-27 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
Carolina is also playing Saturday, as they travel to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field for a primetime matchup against the Green Bay Packers. The Panthers (and fantasy football owners in the semifinals) will once again be without their best player, running back Christian McCaffrey, who is still recovering from a thigh injury. That means it's going to be even harder for the team to topple the Packers, who moved into pole position for the NFC's No. 1 seed and a playoff bye after the Saints were upset by the Eagles. Green Bay hosts the Tennessee Titans next Sunday night before finishing the season on the road against the Bears. If they can hold on to the No. 1 seed, Aaron Rodgers may win his third MVP Award, since he’s done more with fewer weapons than Mahomes.
Saturday’s NFL Network double-header will give us a good look at some of the best players in the league as they get ready for the playoffs. Check out the full Week 15 NFL schedule below; we’ll update this post if any games are moved or postponed.
