Floyd Mayweather vs. John Gotti III: Preview and How to Watch with Sling TV
After a chaotic finish to their fight last year, Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III are ready to settle the score. Here's how to rent the PPV with Sling.
With a flawless 50-0 record and eight different world titles, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has already secured his legacy as one of the greatest boxers in history. In recent years, his exhibition fights against Jake Paul and international fighters like Tenshin Nasukawa and Mikuru Asakura have been big PPV draws. But last year’s bout against John Gotti III – grandson of the infamous NYC mob boss – was stopped by the ref in the sixth round due to “excessive trash talking,” which lead to total chaos in and out of the ring. Given that “excessive trash talking” is basically Mayweather’s default, fans were obviously disappointed. Now, just over a year later, the 47-year-old Mayweather will step into the ring against Gotti to finally settle the score. Here’s everything you need to know about the highly anticipated rematch, and how to order the PPV with Sling.

What Happened in the First Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti Fight?
As mentioned above, both fighters were jawing throughout their June 2023 bout in Sunrise, FL, which “Money” Mayweather appeared to be dominating. With temperatures rising, referee Kenny Bayless warned them repeatedly to curtail their trash talk. But when the verbal sparring continued in the sixth round, Bayless had enough, and stopped the fight. However, Gotti wasn’t finished, and he swung wildly at Mayweather even after the bell had rung. That set off a full-scale brawl between the two entourages in the ring.
Neither fans nor the fighters themselves were satisfied with the result, and Mayweather announced a rematch on his Instagram account in June. It’s safe to assume there is no love lost between these two as they prepare for the second go-round.
Who is Floyd Mayweather’s Next Fight?
Having retired from professional boxing, there’s no path for Mayweather to follow to win title fights; at this point his only consideration is which fights will attract the most eyeballs on PPV. So it’s impossible to speculate about who Mayweather will take on after Gotti, especially considering that 58-year-old Mike Tyson is scheduled to fight Mayweather’s former nemesis Jake Paul Nov. 15 on Netflix. In fact, we’d wager that Mayweather would be willing to take on Iron Mike if the money was right. Regardless, it’s hard to imagine that his fight against Gotti will be the last time we see this legendary boxer step into the ring.
