Think you know everything about scams in India? Prepare to be shocked when you tune into Sling TV and watch “Scam 2003: The Telgi Story,” launching on SonyLIV this Sept. 1.
Award-winning director Hansal Mehta’s newest sensation follows in the footsteps of his mind-blowing “Scam 1992” web series – and it’s every bit as good. Inspired by the Hindi book, “Reporter Ki Diary,” written by the journalist Sanjay Singh, who originally covered the story, “Scam 2003” gives viewers unique insight into the true story of con artist Abdul Karim Telgi.
Does “Scam 2003” only focus on Telgi’s Stamp Paper Ghotala scam?

No, absolutely not! “Scam 2003: The Telgi Story” follows the entire trajectory of Abdul Karim Telgi’s life – from childhood, when he was just a simple boy born in Khanapur, Karnataka, through his creation of a network that enabled him to sell fake stamp papers across the country.
After Telgi was caught, the Tax Department raised a demand of Rs 120 crore against him – one of the highest tax penalties that can be held against an individual.
Actor Gagan Dev Riar’s captivating portrayal of Abdul Karim Telgi is even more gripping due to his striking resemblance to the real-life Abdul Karim Telgi.
Other stars appearing in “Scam 2003” include Vishal C. Bhardwaj, Mukesh Tiwari, Sana Amin Sheikh, Aniruddh Roy, Deepak Mahato, Satyam Srivastava, Yash Kyatam and Shaad Randhawa.
