Donald Trump February Town Hall - What Should Americans Expect?
Ahead of the South Carolina Republican primary on Saturday, February 24, Laura Ingraham will moderate the Town Hall with Trump from Spartanburg, SC. According to Fox News, the event will “focus on both domestic and foreign policy challenges facing America, and solutions for addressing them.” FOX News also says the Town Hall will examine “a potential shift in how minorities feel about former President Trump, along with questions about his ongoing legal battles, potential vice-presidential selection and more.” Although the town hall from the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium will be pre-taped, Trump is expected to take audience questions.
The current Republican presidential primary political landscape
Despite facing 91 criminal charges in several different states related to election interference, mishandling classified documents, and hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, Trump has quickly reemerged as the leading Republican candidate for president. Would-be challengers like former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and Florida governor Ron DeSantis have all dropped out of the race, with only former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley remaining. Despite her familiarity with South Carolina Republicans, Haley trails Trump 65 percent to 23 percent among likely Republican primary voters, according to a poll released last week.
After the South Carolina primary on Saturday, Michigan will hold its primaries on Feb. 27, followed by the Idaho and Missouri caucuses on March 2, the Washington D.C. primary on March 3, and the North Dakota caucus on March 4. Super Tuesday is March 5, where voters in 16 states – including California, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Texas – will hold primaries and caucuses. Following the primaries, the Republican National Convention will be held July 15-18 in Milwaukee, WI.
