If you’ve ever made up a fake excuse to get out of plans, you’re not alone; according to a Harris Poll survey conducted by Sling TV, nearly 5 in 10 Americans have faked an excuse to get out of social obligations with family and friends. And, 76% of this group wanted to relax at home and watch or binge television shows and movies instead. It’s no secret that at one time or another, we all experience the joy of missing out.
But, with all those fake excuses come feelings of guilt and shame. In fact, 43% of excuse makers report feelings of guilt over their excuse making. Sling TV and Maya Rudolph are teaming up to say it’s okay to cancel your plans, stay home and celebrate the joy of missing out – to instead “Sling in.”
In Sling TV’s new marketing campaign, “Joy of Slinging In” (JOSI), Maya Rudolph makes fake excuses on the fly to escape undesirable events and instead stay home to watch Sling TV. The first spot, “Dog Pawty,” is available to view on Sling TV’s YouTube channel.
To embrace JOSI, you can explore over 125,000 on-demand titles on Sling, in addition to popular movies featured in the “Joy of Slinging In” ribbon in the Sling TV app. To learn more about what Americans think about the joy of missing out, visit our news release.
