Fall is here, which means the perfect weather for curling up and “Slinging In.” We know the best part of binging your favorite shows is actually watching the show, so today we’re debuting new features on Apple TV that make it easier than ever to get to your channels quickly and never miss a minute of your show while looking for your next binge-worthy obsession.
Beginning today, Slingers using Apple TV will start to see the “Launch Into Live” and “Browse While Watching” features roll out, so you can spend more time slinging your favorite show, movie or event and less time searching for something to watch.
Jump Right Back In With Launch Into Live
The new Launch into Live feature means you can jump back into the last channel you were watching when opening Sling, instead of navigating through the “My TV” screen. Less clicks to watch = more time Slinging, which we love! Simply swipe “up” to stay on the channel, or swipe down to get to My TV.
If you’re a My TV lover, you always have the choice to disable Launch Into Live in your Sling TV settings. Simply select the Settings via the cog icon in the upper right corner of your screenand navigate to Preferences to uncheck “Auto-Play Video When App Launches.”
If you have kids in the house and Parental Controls turned on, Launch into Live is automatically disabled for restricted shows & movies, so the kiddos can’t accidentally access locked content.
Browse While Watching
In addition to Launch Into Live, you can now browse the Sling app while your current channel plays in the background, so you never miss a minute of your show. To browse while streaming full-screen video, press “menu” on the Apple TV remote to pull up a semi-transparent half-screen view of the app. Swipe down to see more while keeping the audio, so you can still hear your current channel while browsing or searching without interrupting your stream.
Launch Into Live and Browse While Watching will roll out to additional devices in the coming months. To keep up with the latest announcements, bookmark this blog, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter (@Sling) and Instagram (@Sling)!
