Blackouts & Viewing Restrictions

Disponible en Español >

Select channels may occasionally black out certain games, events, TV shows, and movies. Blackout rules are determined by the leagues, sports associations, content owners, and networks that purchase the rights to these broadcasts. Our agreements sometimes require us to black out content for various reasons. These reasons can include:

  • Sports blackouts based on eligible viewing areas

  • Content blackouts based on streaming rights

  • Device-specific blackouts, such as content on mobile phones

Additionally, sometimes you can't stream an event because someone else has exclusive rights to it. In these instances, you'll see alternative content and/or on-screen messaging.

For more information on blackouts, choose an option below:

Believe You're Seeing a Blackout Message in Error?

Error 7-600

Error 7-600 may show on screen if something you're trying to watch is blacked out in your area.

Double check to make sure your game isn't on another channel

Sometimes games are blacked out on a local channel or regional sports network, but not the national broadcast. If you see a blackout message when trying to view an NBA, NHL, or MLB game, be sure to check all available channels for your game. National broadcasts for each league are typically available on the following channels:

NFL: FOX, NBC, NFL Network, ESPN
NHL: NBC, NBCSN, USA, CNBC, Golf Channel, NHL Network
MLB: ESPN, TBS, FOX, FS1, MLB Network
NBA: TNT, ESPN, NBA TV

Check alternate channels

Most of our available regional sports networks offer alternate channels for times when multiple events in the same region are scheduled at the same time. For more information, go here.

Check your IP address

Depending on your Internet Service Provider (ISP), your IP address could show you in a different location, which could cause you to receive blackout messages in error.

Click the button below to look up your current IP location. Make sure you’re using a non-mobile device connected to your home network.

If the tool shows you outside of the metro area where you’re currently streaming (for instance, if you’re in Denver and the tool shows you in Seattle), CLICK HERE and fill out the requested information.
