"The Office" Deleted "St. Patrick's Day" Scenes: Hey, Look What We Just Got!
March 16th 2010 at 12:33pm by TaraAriano

Would it surprise you to learn that "St. Patrick's Day," last week's new episode of "The Office," could have been even cringier than it was? Well, two deleted scenes prove that it's true. Above, Oscar tries to explain to Michael why he shouldn't have booked a trip to Tallahassee based on Jo's casual friendliness; after the jump, see more of Jo's warmth with the Scranton team -- and, unfortunately, the moment that Michael's ignorance of hints both gentle and pointed requires Gabe to get involved.

The Arrival of "The Office" Baby Is Just One Week Away: Hey, Look What We Just Got!
February 25th 2010 at 3:39pm by TaraAriano

Last week, I updated you on the latest advance info on the baby Jim and Pam are about to have on "The Office" -- which is sure to be the biggest event on the show since...well, Jim and Pam's wedding. And with the baby prepped for delivery (see what I did there?) a week from today, NBC has released new clips to hype the sainted birth. Above, a promo gives us even more glimpses of what'll happen in next Thursday's special hour-long episode; there's even more after the jump.

"The Office" Baby: Too Much Hype, or Not Enough?
February 16th 2010 at 2:13pm by TaraAriano

Considering how much NBC hyped last fall's big Jim/Pam wedding on "The Office," so far its promo materials for the couple's imminent baby have been downright restrained -- and it's nearly here! Pam will give birth in a special hour-long episode airing March 4, as soon as the show returns after the winter Olympics. The promo above shows Dwight trying to use a hardware-store tape measure to check Pam's cervical dilation (because of course he does); there's more after the jump.

"The Office" Episode 6-16: "The Manager and the Salesman"
February 12th 2010 at 2:18pm by TaraAriano

Last week on "The Office," we got a tiny taste of Kathy Bates's Jo Bennett, via webcam from Tallahassee. But in last night's episode, she was live and in person in Scranton, and I loved every second. The full recap is after the jump.

Late Night Last Week: "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" Signs Off
January 25th 2010 at 10:00am by TaraAriano

"Why is everybody freaking out over conan o'brian's 'last show'?" wrote one of my friends on Facebook Saturday morning. "Like he's not going to be back having boring conversations with celebrities in the next few months." Which is a completely fair viewpoint on the end (?) of the Late Night Wars. As for me: I was surprised by how emotional I got watching the series finale of "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" (in full, above). I'll break it down, and mention the rest of Friday's late-night highlights, after the jump.

"The Office" Episode 6-14: "The Banker"
January 22nd 2010 at 8:39am by TaraAriano

On last night's episode of "The Office," a banker arrives to perform some routine due diligence regarding the company in advance of the acquisition, and...HEY. A clip show? In 2010? We're still doing that on primetime television? I can't really improve upon this tweet from Videogum last night: "[T]onight's ep of The Office was still TBS Very Funny (Tues 10/9C) but it's 2010. Supercuts are for YouTube." That said: if you want to watch some admittedly amusing highlights from the series run of "The Office," the full "episode" is above.

Steve Carell Helms a "Rockford Files" Remake
January 11th 2010 at 4:03pm by JulieKlausner

This is exciting! Steve Carell, who proved his virtuosity in the '70s pastiche when he played Brick Tamland in "Anchorman," is producing a remake of "The Rockford Files," the beloved '70s detective series starring James Garner. Carell is partnering with David Shore, the man behind "House," to create a pilot for NBC -- a network which, if you haven't heard, is looking to fill the void left in the wake of "The Jay Leno Show" experiment with scripted dramas. No word on who will play Jim Rockford, the Malibu ex-con who, in the show's first incarnation, solved crimes out of his mobile home and was preternaturally fond of beige. But if "Rockford 2.0" gets picked up and David Chase decides to write another installation, maybe it would feel so good to reunite him with James Gandolfini? Just brainstorming here. But a guy named "James" worked the first time. Sit down, Franco! We'll call you when we decide to bring back "McMillan and Wife."

"The Office" Presents a Producer's Cut of "Secret Santa": Hey, Look What We Just Got!
December 30th 2009 at 1:39pm by TaraAriano

Yesterday, I confessed how in love I am with Christmas; today, I noticed that the producers of "The Office" have abetted my love for the season -- and my refusal to let it die even several days after all the presents have been opened and, where necessary, exchanged for store credit -- by releasing a special producer's cut of this year's Christmas episode, "Secret Santa," which you can watch above. The episode weaves in nine extra never-before-seen minutes of the episode, including a plot thread in which Michael, in his Jesus costume, invites all the warehouse staffers to the party, without telling Jim, and leading to panic that the food will run out (particularly after we are introduced to a warehouse employee known to her colleagues as "Garfield" due to her inability to leave a pan of lasagna unmolested). Also, if your main complaint about this season of the show is that there haven't been enough scenes of Andy scatting to Green Day, this episode may turn things around for you.

In any case: if this special episode has whetted your appetite for "The Office": tonight, NBC is airing a mini-marathon, with four episodes of the show back to back, starting at 8 PM. Surely you still have Christmas cookies hanging around that need you to finish them while you warm the couch?
