If you haven't heard about 2010 being The Year of Betty White, it's time to reevaluate your life, and in particular, your tendency to avoid news, and the world, and information in general. Because White (seen above) has been EVERYWHERE lately, from her cameo in "The Proposal," to her SAG Awards Acceptance Speech, to her "SNL" -hosting by popular demand, and now, her starring role on the new TV Land series, "Hot in Cleveland." Movieline.com has a clip of the show, which also stars Jane Leeves (Daphne on "Frasier"), Wendie Malick (Nina on "Just Shoot Me"; Judith on "Dream On") and Valerie Bertinelli ("Valerie Bertinelli" in "The Episode of 'Oprah' in which Mackenzie Phillips revealed her incestuous relationship with her late father and was then treated to a surprise walk-on visit from her old "One Day at a Time" co-star, Valerie). Enjoy White's formula in action: occasional rude language punctuated by irresistible adorableness. And congrats to her for landing a role on one of the last remaining sitcoms on TV; it's par for the course in what's already a year paved with gorgeous victories.
Look, fellows and ladies. If you know me from Adam or Eve, you know that I'm a huge "SNL" apologist. Critics and lay-people alike rip "Saturday Night Live" apart like it was sub- Zarin Fabrics-grade rayon-- "It's a waste of space." "It's not as good as it was in 19-blanketty blank." "I don't like that Andy Samberg because I am secretly anti-Semitic." But I like it! I watch it every week, and not out of spite! That said, this week's show, hosted by Jude Law, was, in my opinion, a dud. More on this week's episode after the jump!

These days, Chris Parnell should be best known for voicing Cyril on "Archer." (He probably is best known for voicing the Helping Hand in the Hamburger Helper ads). But just a few short years ago, he made viral-video history opposite Andy Samberg in the deathless "SNL" Digital Short "Lazy Sunday" -- and last night on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," he revisited past glory by performing the song live. Watch it above, and hit "continue reading" for the rest of last night's late-night highlights.

This weekend's episode of "Saturday Night Live" starred Zach Galifianakis -- and if we could offer a critique, it's that it could have been a lot more Galifianakis-y. Watch the full episode, above, and then let's talk about it after the jump.

Hey guys! Remember J.Lo? Come on, yes you do. Jennifer Lopez? She was a fly girl? With a prominent rear end? She was half of "Bennifer," in The 90's, when journalists were just figuring out that if you combined the names of two celebrities who were dating, it would be hilarious? Well, anyway, she is still alive. And this week she hosted "Saturday Night Live"! The recap is after the jump.
Gawker posted today about the life-affirming phenomenon that is the Betty White Resurgence, including but not limited to her appearance in a Super Bowl ad for Snickers (above), and a grassroots Facebook campaign to get her to host "Saturday Night Live." The Huffington Post points out that White has "been in show-business for eight decades, and yet, she has never hosted the show," adding that her fans might be able to pressure NBC into offering her the gig just as the masses pressured Tracy Morgan to sign up for a Twitter account. Sign up here to show your support for Betty, and maybe we'll all be treated to a "Golden Girls" sketch featuring Fred Armisen as Dorothy, or an installation of "Dateline NBC" in which Bill Hader's Keith Morrison is overly curious about her husband's grisly death, or at the very least, a monologue in which Rue McClanahan heckles Betty from the front row. I would love that so much I might actually cry right now just thinking about it.
Man-meat cougar plaything Ashton Kutcher hosted this week's episode of "Saturday Night Live," and he did a good job of it! Check out this week's recap after the jump.
continue readingGreat news for fans of things that are great: Zach Galifianakis is set to host "Saturday Night Live" on March 6th! This can only bring great things to the world at large, and especially to Galifianakis (seen above, on CollegeHumor's "Michael Showalter Showwalter" ), who has been a red-hot lightning bolt of thundering hotness and redness since he played the part of "The Funniest Thing About 'The Hangover'" in the Golden Globe-winning, blockbuster motion picture, "The Hangover." But as everybody with his or her "ear" to the "ground" knows, Zach has always been the best. Even when he was beardless! Yes, that was a thing! Also, remember this Fiona Apple video? He's a treasure. Anyway, let's all tune in to "SNL" on March 6th and hope that Zach gets to play Orson Welles on a new installation of a Vincent Price special.
"Mad Men" star Jon Hamm has already been hailed as the second coming of George Clooney for his rugged, midwestern good looks and Old Hollywood style. But after his second turn hosting "Saturday Night Live," is it more accurate to say he's actually a young Alec Baldwin? Read the recap after the jump and see if you're not convinced.
continue readingFor as much as I love "Saturday Night Live's" Digital Shorts -- like the brilliant "Tizzle Wizzle Show," above -- sometimes their "weird" schtick gets a little tiresome. You know, the shorts like "Megan's Roommate," where the joke seems to go on a bit too long? It can make two minutes seem like twenty -- an awkward twenty.
Landline TV gets this, and recently spoofed The Lonely Island's success...in a digital short of their own. Yes, the result is so hyper-meta that I think it might overheat from its own self-awareness. But it is also pretty funny (and kind of NSFW), and it's waiting for you after the jump.
