Betty White to Host "Saturday Night Live": A Sketch-by-Sketch Timeline from the Future
March 10th 2010 at 11:48am by TaraAriano

It's already been quite a year for Betty White: a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Screen Actors Guild (which she discusses in the "Entertainment Tonight" clip above), talk of a Daytime Emmy nomination for her role on "The Bold and the Beautiful," and a very well-received Snickers ad, which aired during the Super Bowl. And things are only getting better: in a move that will delight the nearly half a million members of the Facebook group that agitated for it, White will host "Saturday Night Live" this season. Not sure you'll watch? Maybe the lineup of sketches from White's "Saturday Night Live" episode, which we have brought back from the future*, will change your mind: you can see it after the jump.

*It's not actually from the future. I just made it up.

"Alice in Wonderland": From the Bullpen
March 9th 2010 at 1:27pm by WillEdmondson

11:56:36 AM Tara Ariano: We've seen "A Christmas Carol." We've seen "The Wolfman." And with last night's "Alice in Wonderland," I think that's going to be it for Victorian England for a while.
11:57:28 AM Will Edmondson: Yeah, imagine how cranky you would've been if we'd seen "Sherlock Holmes"!
11:57:48 AM Tara Ariano: I had the pleasure of seeing that with my parents. I think my dad only snored a little.
11:59:12 AM Will Edmondson: At least this wasn't really Victorian England. Victorian England on an acid trip, maybe. Tim Burton really ran with the ball on this one.

Late Night Last Night: "Lazy Sunday" Live, Hanks Meets Colbert, and Jake Byrd Interviews 100 Stars
March 9th 2010 at 11:21am by TaraAriano

These days, Chris Parnell should be best known for voicing Cyril on "Archer." (He probably is best known for voicing the Helping Hand in the Hamburger Helper ads). But just a few short years ago, he made viral-video history opposite Andy Samberg in the deathless "SNL" Digital Short "Lazy Sunday" -- and last night on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," he revisited past glory by performing the song live. Watch it above, and hit "continue reading" for the rest of last night's late-night highlights.

"Saturday Night Live" Episode 35-16: "Zach Galifianakis/Vampire Weekend"
March 8th 2010 at 11:08am by TaraAriano

This weekend's episode of "Saturday Night Live" starred Zach Galifianakis -- and if we could offer a critique, it's that it could have been a lot more Galifianakis-y. Watch the full episode, above, and then let's talk about it after the jump.

"30 Rock" Episode 4-13: "Anna Howard Shaw Day"
February 12th 2010 at 3:00pm by WillEdmondson

"30 Rock" had a Valentine's Day episode last night, and one of the major plot points was Liz Lemon's search for someone to escort her home from a dentist's appointment on the day of love. Of course, everyone in the "TGS" crew has other plans, including Jack Donaghy, who is hard at work seducing a CNBC Money Honey (Elizabeth Banks). But there's a big, big problem with this, as any New Yorker could tell you. I happen to be a New Yorker, and will be more than happy to explain, as well as talk about the rest of the episode. Lucky you! It's all waiting for you, after the jump.

11 Ways to Survive Snowpocalypse '10
February 10th 2010 at 4:54pm by RobbTodd

New Yorkers always try to play like they're so hard, but let a little snow fall on the ground and they knit fingerless hobo gloves and slice open Tauntauns to survive. The whole city shuts down; kids pelt each other with dirty snowballs while all the powder turns to sooty, salty brown slush. L.A. is laughing at you, New York City. Laughing. It's a little over the top. But since everyone is freaking out, after the jump are 11 ways to survive Snowpocalypse '10.

"Glee" Lands Molly Shannon
February 10th 2010 at 2:38pm by TaraAriano

You'd think that, in the first thirteen episodes of "Glee," Sue Sylvester made enough enemies to last most fictional characters a lifetime. But the show's producers evidently don't agree: the news just hit that the latest high-profile guest star to join the show is Molly Shannon, who'll play a McKinley High astronomy teacher/badminton coach who, naturally, clashes with Sue, because everyone clashes with Sue. Though Michael Ausiello's write-up on the casting doesn't say whether Shannon will sing, she has plenty of experience in putting on a show. Above, see a sketch featuring Shannon as her classic "Saturday Night Live" character, high school student Mary Katherine Gallagher, as she tries out for a talent show, which suggests that "Glee" should be right in her wheelhouse; after the jump, more evidence that Shannon should be able to handle whatever the "Glee" producers throw at her.

February 8th 2010 at 12:45pm by JulieKlausner

"Community" Episode 1-15: "Romantic Expressionism"
February 5th 2010 at 1:21pm by WillEdmondson

Jeff's got a fling agreement with a hot professor now, but that doesn't mean he can't go window shopping. So when he sees Annie being hit on by a hippie he calls "micro nipples," he has his objections. On the other hand, Britta is cool with this relationship, or so she tells Annie when she comes to her for advice. So, this episode of "Community" is all about Annie and the hippie (who's name is Vaughn, by the way) sitting in a tree! Until you realize that Vaughn is one of Britta's exes. This is going to get awkward! A full recap is after the jump.

"Saturday Night Live" Episode 35-13: "Jon Hamm/Michael Bublé"
February 1st 2010 at 8:00am by TaraAriano

"Mad Men" star Jon Hamm has already been hailed as the second coming of George Clooney for his rugged, midwestern good looks and Old Hollywood style. But after his second turn hosting "Saturday Night Live," is it more accurate to say he's actually a young Alec Baldwin? Read the recap after the jump and see if you're not convinced.
