Five OTHER Revered TV Moms, And Their Surprising News*
December 3rd 2009 at 2:58pm by TaraAriano

Now that we've all had time to digest the news that former "Family Ties" star Meredith Baxter is a lesbian. In fact, Baxter's announcement got so much attention that it overshadowed other press appearances by some of her TV-mom peers. Check those out after the jump.

* In this case, what we are calling "news" should be understood as "made-up stories."

Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Ready for First MMA Fight
September 2nd 2009 at 11:55am by RobbTodd

Former Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Jason David Frank wants to "prove that [he's] a real fighter." He's not joking, either. Frank has been training with UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard, and expects to make his professional debut soon, according to MMAWeekly.com.

"I know I have a target on my back," Frank said. "Everyone is going to want to beat up the Green Ranger."

Frank played the Green Ranger in the TV series and the White Ranger in the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" movie above.

"But I am no Kimbo," Frank added. "I’ve been training for a very long time."

Kimbo Slice was supposed to be the first mega-star of mixed martial arts, but was quickly proven to be an over-hyped street fighter. He was knocked out in a matter of seconds by a late-replacement, Seth Petruzelli, which you can watch after the jump. Also, check out the side-by-side photo of Frank in his Ranger gear and MMA gear.

BET's "Iron Ring" Brings Hip-Hop Flava to MMA
April 21st 2009 at 2:04pm by RobbTodd

There's no octagon, but BET's "Iron Ring" is still non-stop knockouts and tapouts. How can anyone still watch or care about boxing? Does anyone even know who the heavyweight boxing champ is? If you do, keep it to yourself. Nobody is interested. MMA is here to stay.

Fighters from Brazil to the Bronx compete for the "Iron Ring" crown on teams fronted by rappers T.I., Ludacris, Juelz Santana, and Nelly, as well as boxing champ Floyd Mayweather and producer Lil' Jon (who tabbed UFC glamorboy Shonie Carter as his coach).

MMA's rules used to be simpler: no weight classes, no biting, no gouging eyes. Everything else goes. But while that's changed, all it takes for a new fan to get into MMA is understanding the ground game. Once you do, it's impossible not to love the sport. Because of the submission holds, the fight is on the line at all times, even if a guy is getting pounded into the mat. The clip above is a little taste of someone getting pounded into the mat, just to get you started.

Crappie Popovers on Versus
December 18th 2008 at 11:34am by RobbTodd

When we launched we had mountains of content for you to climb. So you spent every waking hour of every day at work sifting through all our great videos. Then you were left with one question: What have I done with my life? Then another question occurred to you. How come there’s no cooking video with a recipe for making crappie popovers at a campsite? A glaring omission on our part. Apologies.

You may have also wondered about the Top 10 hits of the 05-06 NHL season, or perhaps you wanted to see a dude throw blows in his first MMA fight. You know you did. But that’s not all Versus has to offer. Watch Bodacious the un-rideable bull un-ride some cowpokes, or go hunting for stag in New Zealand.

Did you know all groupers start out as females then turn into males? Kinda like Sheree on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
