[13:28] Tara Ariano: This was the first movie that we were going to recap together but watch separately (since I'm still in California), and I have to say, it just wasn't the same.
[13:29] Will Edmondson: Oh, hi Tara. Glad I could catch you between your manicure and pedicure to talk about Big Movie Wednesday. Can you see the screen, or are there cucumber slices in your way?
[13:29] Tara Ariano: I am a professional. I only need one eye.
[13:30] Will Edmondson: Good to know. But no, after watching all two and a half hours of "Funny People," I can see why you'd need a spa day. That movie was an undertaking. But I still enjoyed most of it.
[13:30] Tara Ariano: I'm not actually at the spa, you know. The TCA Press Tour is still happening. I ducked out last night so see it, and I'm drained.

Happy Thursday, folks! It's been an exciting week, what with apocalyptic thunderstorms here in New York and my esteemed colleague Tara doing battle at the TCA frontlines in Pasadena. TV-wise, it's been pretty busy as well: just after NBC announced its renewal, "The Philanthropist" got all cops-and-robbers on us, with Teddy in hot pursuit of an identity thief. See the full episode, above.
The excitement continued on "Top Chef Masters," where Art Smith proved that chefs can actually (gasp) be friendly, funny people. On "America's Got Talent," the judges had to crack down as they picked the quarter-finalists; meanwhile, "Monsters Inside Me" made me think seriously about purchasing a face mask. See the full roundup, after the jump.

My favorite aspect of his moviemaking skill is that his plots are based on events that have really happened to him; watch the clip above from Apatow's interview on Conan to find out which scene from "Knocked Up" was inspired by an exchange he had with his then-pregnant wife. And if the clip from his new movie, "Funny People" (also above), is truly representative of Apatow's talent, I might have to find out more about this "Leslie Mann" chick.
Click "continue reading" to hear more from Apatow as he talks about what it was like to direct Mann in a sex scene with Adam Sandler.
