There's been rumors of "Zoolander 2" for a while, and considering the number of times stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have acted together (proof above), it seemed inevitable that the pair would eventually team up on the runway again. That's good news, because if it's anything like the original "Zoolander," "Zoolander 2" will be hysterical and the best.
Now, according to Deadline Hollywood's Nikki Finke, Stiller is co-writing a script for the sequel with partner Jusin Theroux, who recently wrote "Iron Man 2" and "Tropic Thunder." Jonah Hill is reportedly in negotiations to play the movie's villain, and though Owen Wilson hasn't formally signed on yet, I think it's safe to assume that he will. The plan is for Theroux to direct the sequel, and he's heading to Paris's Fashion Week to "immerse himself in what is current in fashion." Let's wish him luck, because as "Bruno" showed us, too much "immersion" is sometimes a bad thing.
Deep in the process of expanding its animated programming, Fox has picked up a cartoon that will have the vocal talents of Jonah Hill (seen above on "The Tonight Show," describing the moment he experienced another highlight of his adult life: meeting Kobe Bryant). The project's writers, Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul (the latter wrote the screenplay to Jim Carrey's "Yes Man"), will focus on the hardships a 7-year-old socialite faces when he's forced to attend public school. And since we've already had the pleasure of watching Hill play Seth, the conniving social outcast in "Superbad," his embodiment of a particularly self-righteous second-grader should be just as enjoyable, if not more.
[13:28] Tara Ariano: This was the first movie that we were going to recap together but watch separately (since I'm still in California), and I have to say, it just wasn't the same.
[13:29] Will Edmondson: Oh, hi Tara. Glad I could catch you between your manicure and pedicure to talk about Big Movie Wednesday. Can you see the screen, or are there cucumber slices in your way?
[13:29] Tara Ariano: I am a professional. I only need one eye.
[13:30] Will Edmondson: Good to know. But no, after watching all two and a half hours of "Funny People," I can see why you'd need a spa day. That movie was an undertaking. But I still enjoyed most of it.
[13:30] Tara Ariano: I'm not actually at the spa, you know. The TCA Press Tour is still happening. I ducked out last night so see it, and I'm drained.
[13:31] Will Edmondson: (ALLEGEDLY.)
Since Jason Segel, Jonah Hill, and Jason Schwartzman have all been in good movies recently, one can only assume that a movie starring all of them would be really good, right? "Lonely Island" member and "Saturday Night Live" writer Akiva Schaffer sure hopes so, because he will be directing all of them in "The Adventurer's Handbook."
The movie is based on Mick Conefrey's book of the same name, and will feature Segel, Hill, and Schwartzman as three childhood friends who decide to travel the world to spice up their boring lives. Hill will play an engineer (which seems like a stretch), while Schwartzman's cast as an obnoxious three-time Grammy winner (which I take as a Phantom Planet dream sequence). If Segel's role -- a talented musician who never made it big -- seems familiar, it's because you may have seen it already...twice. Once in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," and again in the above clip from "How I Met Your Mother."
Celebrity guest shots (like Denis Leary's, above) are a trademark of "The Simpsons," and the upcoming 21st season will feature some famous voices in Springfield, to continue the tradition. As Executive Producer Al Jean discussed at Comic-Con last week, Seth Rogen is lined up to guest-star in the season premiere (which he also wrote), and Sarah Silverman is set to play "Bart's girlfriend who alternately loves and hates him for no good reason" in another episode. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin will appear later this winter after Homer wins the lottery and hires the band to play a private concert for himself and Bart. Says Jean, "When Bart goes to the bathroom, Coldplay has to stop [playing]." Sounds awesome.
Anne Hathaway, Jonah Hill, and the late Eartha Kitt are among the others who have already lent their voices to the next season, which is set to premiere September 27.
When Jonah Hill was on "The Late Show with David Letterman" last night, he declared himself the latest casualty in the war between celebrities and the people who impersonate them on Twitter ("twitterpostors," according to twictionary). Unfortunately for Hill, his twitterpostor proved to be quite the "attwacker" -- even going as far as to serve "Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau with some cheeky insults and attitude, the fallout of which Hill describes in the clip above. Faux-nah Hill's account has since been suspended, leaving twitterpostors everywhere on the hunt for their next victim, and my twitterphobia stronger than ever.
I’ve picked a winner for this year’s "Amazing Race." My money's on ...
