"America's Next Top Model" Learns New Words from Andre Leon Talley
February 8th 2010 at 6:14pm by CharlotteCowles

Andre Leon Talley has just finished filming his first season of "America's Next Top Model" and signed on to do three more, apparently with Anna Wintour's blessing (I'm guessing "Fine, Andre," is about as good as it gets). He'll be wearing a specially-made line of robes by Chado Ralph Rucci, who also got a crap-ton of reality show love on last week's premiere of "Kell on Earth." He'll also be introducing a fresh lineup of buzzwords to the "ANTM" lexicon, which is great, because if I hear "smize" one more time I'm going to plug my ears with Covergirl sponge applicators.

What's his favorite new word? Hit "continue reading."

"Glee" Continues Winning Every Possible Award
January 25th 2010 at 3:30pm by TaraAriano

In the clip above, various members of the "Glee" cast recount -- with typical humility and grace -- their reactions to the news of their four Golden Globe nominations. It's possible they're a bit cockier now, as "Glee" becomes an unstoppable award juggernaut. A rundown of their recent hardware acquisitions is after the jump.

"30 Rock" Going After New Bosses, Comcast
January 19th 2010 at 2:25pm by WillEdmondson

Matt Webb Mitovich at Comcast-owned Fancast reports this week that "30 Rock" is going to make fun of Comcast in an upcoming episode. Comcast, of course, acquired half of NBC Universal from General Electric in a deal announced a month ago -- a deal that is sure to affect many of the "30 Rock" characters, but especially Jack Donaghy, GE's (former) head of television and microwave oven programming. Alec Baldwin commented on his wishes for his character after winning a Golden Globe for the role: "I wanted my character to barricade himself in his office and...not take orders from anyone at Comcast." He continues, "[Donaghy] would only take orders from Jack Welch -- [who] doesn’t even work at GE anymore." I agree, Alec, that would be tremendous. But, in lieu of a self-created Donaghy hostage situation, I'd be fine with him taking out his frustrations on Liz Lemon, like he does in the clip above.

Sandra Bullock Kisses Meryl Streep at the Critics' Choice Awards, Is Amazingly Un-Awkward About It
January 18th 2010 at 4:59pm by CharlotteCowles

The best part about Sandra Bullock's onstage open-mouthed kiss with Meryl Streep during the Critics' Choice Awards on Friday was how adorably she pulled it off. The mouth-to-mouth touchdown was clearly a surprise for both of them (obviously Sandra was kidding when she first leaned in, and then Meryl actually went for it, and they tried to do a last-minute dodge towards each other's cheeks and went to the same side). Don't act like you haven't done the same thing to your uncle or your friend's mom or someone similarly awkward.

As if Sandra wasn't flustered enough from her win (a surprise tie with Meryl, in which she was announced second), she was given the added challenge of speaking after Meryl. Granted, Meryl is no George Clooney when it comes to acceptances -- witness her ramble at last night's Golden Globes, after the jump -- but still, Sandra had to prove her chops.

Luckily for all of us, Sandra was up for the task, and even riffed off of Meryl's speech about liking food and sex, which means she didn't even prepare her jokes beforehand. Considering she had about .2 seconds to think up something witty, during which her inner monologue was something like "OHMYGOD THAT WAS MERYL STREEP'S TONGUE!", she did fantastically well -- I was half expecting her to be so overwhelmed that she'd just throw out a tearful "Thank you!" and flee the stage. She was deferential to Meryl, and self-deprecating, which should at least placate everyone who's going to complain about Meryl being a better actress; best of all, she concluded with a compliment about Meryl Streep's kissing abilities, which made everyone more relaxed about it.

See the full video after the jump.

"Saturday Night Live" Episode 35-12: "Sigourney Weaver/The Ting Tings"
January 18th 2010 at 11:37am by JulieKlausner

"Saturday Night Live" is back this week with host Sigourney Weaver, a famous actress who has been around for a long time. She's hosting because she's in "Avatar," which is a hugely successful film I will never see. But let's not sully the fond memories I have of Ms. Weaver from "Working Girl," "Gorillas in the Mist," and "Ghostbusters" with the unpleasant reality that James Cameron, who is ostensibly an adult, made the choice to deliver at least part of his Golden Globes acceptance speech for "Best Director" in Na'vi, which is a fake language from his dumb Sci-Fi movie. More of this week's recap after the jump!

Ricky Gervais Burns Mel Gibson at the Golden Globes
January 18th 2010 at 10:57am by WillEdmondson

Ricky Gervais did an alright job hosting the Golden Globes (more on that, later) but there was one clear victory for the host last night: His amazing introductory zinger of Mel Gibson, above. Gervais poked fun at Gibson's past drinking problems, drawing audible gasps from the crowd of champagne-addled millionaires. I mean, the finest actors of our generation. That's what i meant.

"Glee" Stars React to their Golden Globe Nominations
December 16th 2009 at 4:08pm by TaraAriano

As we reported yesterday, the 2010 Golden Globe nominees have been announced, which means it's time for the Day 2 story: how do the nominees feel? I'm pretty sure none of the nominees is that bummed about getting recognized for their work by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, but it's probable that the stars of freshman dramedy "Glee" are more excited about it than, say, a GG vet like your Edie Falco. To prove it, we have LOTS of gushing videos. Above, see Best Actress nominee Lea Michele telling the story of her reaction to the news of her nomination; her "Glee" colleagues are after the jump.

Golden Globes Nominees Announced; "Up in the Air" Now a Must-See, Apparently
December 15th 2009 at 10:15am by TaraAriano

Very early this morning (seriously: at 5 AM Pacific time), several of your favorite celebrities and Diane Kruger gathered in Los Angeles to announce the nominees for the Golden Globes Awards. Leading the pack among the movie nominees is Jason Reitman's "Up in the Air," which Entertainment Weekly editor Thom Geier discusses (among other worthy honorees) in the "Early Show" clip above. The full list of nominees is here -- or, if you'd rather see the puffy-eyed stars who announced them, the clip is after the jump.

Ricky Gervais Gets the "60 Minutes" Treatment: Hey, Look What We Just Got!
December 14th 2009 at 11:51am by TaraAriano

If the recent stories about this year's Golden Globes host have piqued your curiosity, "60 Minutes" has anticipated your needs: last night, the show aired an in-depth segment with Ricky Gervais, which should both give a good general overview to laypersons and entertain his die-hard fans. Above, you can see the profile as it appeared last night; after the jump, some web-exclusive outtakes.

Ricky Gervais to Be Drunk, Unrehearsed as Host of Golden Globes
October 28th 2009 at 5:23pm by RobbTodd

John Larroquette and Janine Turner must have really bombed when they hosted the Golden Globes back in 1995. The award show hasn't had a host since -- until now: Ricky Gervais is set to run the show January 17.

"I'm going to be drunk, and I'm not going to rehearse," Gervais told Reuters. "So, it's the perfect gig for me." More after the jump.
