Late Night Last Night: Norm Gives Conan a Gift Basket, Dave Urges Us Not to Blame Conan, and Randy Jackson Covers "Pants on the Ground"

The circumstances that will end Conan O'Brien's tenure at "The Tonight Show" are still up in the air, but one thing's certain: he hasn't signed a non-disparagement clause against NBC yet -- or, at least, not one that covers his dabbling in Romance languages. See his clever workaround above.

Conan helped his audience to understand the current fight over the show, with the help of Chinese computer animation.

He also ran down a list of things he intends to do once he's unemployed, whenever that day may come.

And he welcomed surprise guest Norm MacDonald, who finally delivered a congratulations basket he'd meant to give Conan seven months ago.

Across the dial, David Letterman continued his assault on his former (and future) rival, Jay Leno, with his advance look at a promo for Leno's return to "The Tonight Show."

Letterman also evidently watched Leno's speech on the matter Monday night, and had some thoughts in response.

Over on "Late Night with Lonnie Donegan"...er, "Jimmy Fallon": Product Placement Preacher made his triumphant return.

And guest Randy Jackson of "American Idol" joined Jimmy and The Roots in a cover of the song sensation that's sweeping the nation, "Pants on the Ground."

Okay, back to The Late Night Wars: Jimmy Kimmel sought comment from the ghost of Carson.
