Hey, how was your Wednesday night? It certainly wasn't better than Ethan Hawke's: he got to dunk a steak through a basketball hoop on "Late Night." But, it was probably better than Stephen Colbert's, because his show investigated the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch." Icky! More on the latter below.
Conan O'Brien disclosed his love of "Avatar" last night, and then he, Max Weinberg, and Andy Richter had a little conversation in the aliens' native Na'vi language. A non-stop laugh riot!
Letterman also got in the "Avatar" spirit, and even joined star Sigourney Weaver in turning into a blue cat-faced alien himself. Weaver also disclosed that each frame in "Avatar" is the result of 47 man hours...but that at least the work was outsourced to New Zealand. Sitting in front of a computer monitor and creating animated, artificial worlds is something Americans just won't do. (Wait a second...)
Jimmy Kimmel had the always fun Neil Patrick Harris stop by, and then EXPOSED the sham that is the People's Choice Awards! You only get invited if you win! What a racket!
Then, in Part 2, he talked about his big recent win: AfterElton.com's Gay Man of the Decade award. Man, ol' NPH better get an umbrella, because it's raining awards!
Finally, Colbert learned a little bit about The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a huge tract of floating garbage in the Pacific Ocean. It's too bad, because The Great Pacific Garbage Patch would be a great band name...if it wasn't so depressing.
